History of Dynamic Ferrofluid Sculpture

Fuhh weeee... CNY's holidays finally over...
okie...let's start our assignment and BLOOOGGGENG (it's my vry FIRST time) ~ XD

Hmmm...
My group is going to do the Morpho Towers !!~ ( coooool ) .
This Morpho Towers is done by Sachiko Kodama . She loves art and literature, but also had a strong interest in science . Her first project goal before the Morpho Towers was created, is  the " Protrude , Flow " art work.

                                                                 " Protrude , Flow " ( 2001 )

The art work used six electromagnets and this work prevent people from viewing the movement of liquid. To solve the problems and simplify the work , she had discovered a new technique called "Ferrofluid Sculpture" . This enable to create more dynamic sculpture with fluid materials .

In 2006 , she had realize the "Ferrofluid Sculpture" and created a "Morpho Towers" .

" Morpho Tower " ( 2006 )

A spiral tower actually stands on a plate that holds the ferrofluid. According to Sachiko Kodama, when the magnetic field around the tower is strengthened, spikes of ferrofluid are generated in the bottom and they move upward, trembling and rotating around the edge of the iron spiral. The movement could be adjust by adjusting the power of the electromagnet.

In 2007, Sachiko Kodama collaborate with Yasushi Miyajima and came out with an art work "Morpho Towers: Two Standing Spirals".

"Morpho Towers / Two Standing Spirals" ( 2007 )

This inspiration of the art work comes from life and nature. A black tornado elegantly dances in sync with music. This art work actually trying to make us understand how natural shape occur (which i still figuring out now LOL). This art work had apply computer display design as well.

Anyway, i think video would have been better. So everyone can enjoy and understand clearly and more bout it .... XD

More to come, check it out next time ~ =)
